THE SLACKERS RETURN WITH "THE GREAT ROCKSTEADY SWINDLE" ON APRIL 20

New York’s eclectic sextet The Slackers will make their triumphant return to usher in the next chapter of ska with the release of The Great Rocksteady Swindle on April 20 via Hellcat Records. The band’s first single, "Anastasia,” can be heard streaming now on the band’s MySpace page.

Featuring classic cuts like "Cheated,” "How It Feels” and "Thank You,” The Great Rocksteady Swindle retains the band’s unforgettable musical style while also adding fresh and vibrant elements to the music on tracks like the roots-rocker "Sabina” and the gritty "Bo Evil.”

What began in New York City some 19 years ago has grown into an international musical phenomenon that blends ska, rocksteady, dub, R&B, Reggae, Soul, Garage Rock, and 60's pop into what leader Vic Ruggiero calls, "Jamaican Rock n Roll."

The Great Rocksteady Swindle is the Slackers 12th studio album and is a credit to the bands continuing vitality and longevity in the music scene. The new album is a collaborative effort from Dave Hillyard (sax), Vic Ruggiero (keyboards, vocals), Jay "Agent Jay" Nugent (guitar), Glen Pine (trombone, vocals), Marcus Geard (bass) and Ara Babajian (drums) with all members contributing to the songwriting."Long Way Off," "Mr. Tragedy" and the electric "Cheated" are immediate standout cuts on an overall strong album. With its spirited mix of realism and optimism The Great Rocksteady Swindle is exactly the type of musical antidote needed in today's angst-ridden times..

"We're trying to make music to last, something that you want to listen to years from now. We've never really been part of a trend. We've always been on the edge of different trends," explains sax player Hillyard. "It's one reason why we haven't gotten hugely famous but also one of the reasons why we've stuck around so long."

BRITISH PUNK PIONEERS TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM IN APRIL

After years of speculation, groundbreaking English hardcore band GBH has announced plans to release their eleventh studio album, Perfume and Piss, via Hellcat Records on April 6.

There isn't a self-respecting gutter punk, hardcore kid or subcultural miscreant alive who hasn't seen the GBH logo emblazoned on the back of a leather jacket, a denim vest, or a torn-up t-shirt. And now the world will be slapped upside the head with another reminder as to exactly why GBH is so important, in the form of Perfume and Piss, the legendary and iconic punk band's first album for Hellcat Records.

Barn-burning, fist-pumping, palace-gates-storming tracks like "Kids Get Down," "Cadillac One" and "This is Not the Real World" carry the torch forward with the band's trademark fury that is alternately nihilistic, optimistic, pessimistic, anarchist, violent, humorous and deadly serious all at once.

Charged GBH have been a band for over 30 years and their longevity is a testament to their purity of sound and vision. Although, as vocalist and founding member Colin Abrahall tells it, there was never anything close to a "plan."

"We didn't think it'd last a week when we first got together," he says, with a laugh. "None of us could really play our instruments or do our specific job within the band. We just kind of winged it for a while. If you were born the day we formed in 1979, you'd be a mature adult now!"

Perfume and Piss is, in the band's own words, the "best album we've done in a long, long time." The album was created in fits and starts (two weeks on, two weeks off) which allowed them to fine-tune the material and compose a more complete feeling album. "We're really pleased with it," says Colin.

"We've been on various dodgy labels in the past and ever since Hellcat first started, we've wanted to be associated with it," he remarks. "To actually sign with Hellcat is a dream come true for us."

STREET DOGS RETURN TO STUDIO FOR "RABBLE ROUSING" NEW ALBUM

Punk rock proponents for social justice, Street Dogs, have announced plans to return to the studio in February to record their fifth studio album and follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2008 Hellcat debut State of Grace. The band will be recording with bassist Johnny Rioux as producer and Rick Barton (original Dropkick Murphys guitarist) co-producing at the infamous punk rock studio the Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado which was built by members of Descendents, All and Black Flag.

Punk rock runs deep in the veins of Street Dogs, with former Dropkick Murphys singer Mike McColgan's uncompromising lyrics alongside bassist Johnny Rioux, guitarists Marcus Hollar and Tobe Bean III and drummer Paul Rucker's fist pumping street punk anthems. The band burst onto the scene in 2002 and has released a string of classic albums including 2008's State of Grace, which critics called "a raucous and purposeful working man's ride" (Dallas Morning News) with "the kind of political streak rarely heard since the Clash" (Cleveland Scene).

After incessant tours around the world alongside bands like The Offspring, Alkaline Trio, Anit-Flag, Reverend Horton Heat and headlining tours in US and UK in support of State of Grace, Street Dogs will enter the studio in February ready to shake the system and rally the people like never before on their fifth studio album.

"Every time we go into the studio we are trying to make our finest record," says McColgan. "So on February ninth when we enter the Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado that is the goal to make our best record. Also this record will be more of a rabble rousing punk record than our previous records and have more of an edge and an attack on it. We will work to all of our strengths on this effort and we are very excited to have Rick Barton co-producing the record."

"Our next and fifth record will capture the purest form of the band to date," adds Rioux. "We are making it as if it were our first record. The punk and hardcore songs will be MORE punk and hardcore. Our Celtic influence and songs will be more Celtic, the folk, folkier and so on. It's almost as if we are making records in the reverse of most bands. Ending up back at square one, and square one never sounded better. Basically, we want to make our new favorite record."

Boston punk stalwarts Street Dogs are set to roar into the holiday season with a joyful slew of mayhem inducing, beer toasting “Wreck the Halls” shows guaranteed to warm the hearts of young and old punks alike alongside Roger Miret & The Disasters and Stigma. Fronted by original Dropkick Murphy singer, war veteran and Boston firefighter turned pub rock legend, Mike McColgan, Street Dogs will be playing a traditional set of energetic Irish American chestnuts perfect for rousing holiday sing alongs and celebratory circle pits. What better way to welcome in the New Year than with a set of freshly ringing eardrums care of Street Dogs raucous socially charged punk anthems? The band will be joined on selected date by notorious guitar wielding heathen Reverend Horton Heat.

Street Dogs will be teaming up with Marines representing the Toys For Tots (http://www.toysfortots.org) Organization to collect new, unwrapped toys for children in need on every date of the Wreck the Halls tour.

NEKROMANTIX ON TOUR WITH ROB ZOMBIE

Revered psychobilly trio Nekromantix will be taking their hellacious stage show on the road, joining horror-rock legend Rob Zombie for a cross country spree of mayhem and menace on the Hellbilly Deluxe 2 Tour starting October 29. The tour will also feature Captain Clegg & the Night Creatures last seen rocking a murderous Michael Myers in the recent drive-in classic “Halloween II.”

Fronted by flattopped bandleader Kim Nekroman and his beloved coffin bass, the Nekromantix and their furious sinister sound will help ignite this depraved rock and roll freak show as it detonates in the heat scorched metropolis of Phoenix on October 29th, before rocking the fleshpots of Las Vegas and descending on the decadent streets of Hollyweird and beyond.

While many fans mourned the cancellation of band’s anticipated Halloween shows with Horrorpops, the trio promises to more than make up for it with a ghoulish once-in-a-lifetime Halloween extravaganza at the legendary Hollywood Palladium. From there, Nekromantix and their fiendish cohorts will careen across the United States leaving a path of shredded creepers and ringing ear drums before retiring to the darkened confines of a recording studio to create a follow up to their absolutely devastating album Life Is a Grave & I Dig It!
