Music has once again reached a point of predictability. Bands are all sounding the same and people’s interest in music is starting to become material. In the midst of this sprawl comes a band that brings back the very thing that makes people love music.
Static Thought is a punk band from the East Bay of San Francisco. They are here to bring back the integrity and originality that music has long since lost.
Static Thought proves this with their 2nd album The Motive For Movement. Static Thought separates from the wash of generic punk rock with an original sound that is unlike any band today. By creatively blending different styles of punk and creating skillful songs and great hooks, the band is able to keep the listener interested from beginning to the end.
Static Thought is a punk band that is influenced by all styles of music. AC/DC, Van Halen, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Toots and the Maytals, Metallica, The Police, Tom Waits, Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden and many others are major influences to the band. “People listen to music because it touches a nerve that nothing else does. Because of that, each style has something to offer."
Static Thought are trying to change the world in a more direct way. "I became a punk because I always felt like I didn't fit in with my peers. Punk Rock became an outlet for my aggression and a place that shared many of my ideals. I think there are a lot of serious issues that people are unaware of in the punk scene; such as sexism, ignorance, and lack of self-control. All ages venues across the country are shutting down as a result of this. People need to realize that the meaningless destruction that occurs is ruining our scene. There's no better way to take your anger out on something than running around like a mad man in the pit or going down to your neighborhood protest."
Static Thought believes that ideas are more important than a fashion, and certain integrity is more important than showing off ones wealth. They are here to change things so there might be a future for the next generation of outcasts like ourselves. Now is the time for us all to be apart of the Movement.
